The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA), in partnership with the Aboriginal Peoples Knowledge Group has identified 3 initial legislative reform proposals to incorporate the value of Aboriginal cultures and knowledges in their role as Custodians for Country.
The Aboriginal Peoples Knowledge Group is an independent body that operates with autonomy, free from direct control or influence of the EPA to ensure its recommendations, guidance, advice and nurturing, allow for truth-telling and the best possible outcomes for Country and the health of the Community.
The Aboriginal Peoples Knowledge Group will challenge the EPA to uphold the twelve principles listed in the Statement of Commitment.
The Aboriginal Peoples Knowledge Group members act in a personal capacity as Knowledge Holders and not representative of their individual communities or landscapes.
Membership is a 2-year term and comprises seven members from Saltwater, Freshwater, Desert and Rainforest Country.
